Commentary:

Triple-A Portland scored 8 runs with 4 of those runs coming on three HR. In case you’re new to my analysis, I didn’t (and won’t) mention the HR’s from guys who are really non-prospects. In this case a couple of our so-called “4-A hitters,” 29 year-old Justin Leone and 28 year-old Luke Allen, hit the other two HRs.

Another news flash for any new readers: I like Will Venable. Call it a “man-crush.” Will is now batting .313 and has 31 doubles to go with his 7 home runs. I can’t wait to watch how many doubles he’ll smack into that cavernous right-center field in Lake Elsinore next year.

I didn’t post Cedric Hunter’s line (he hit a single and walked), but he still got on base two times out of five plate appearances. Oh yeah, he lowered his batting average and his on-base percentage in the process. This man-crush is bigger than the one I have for Venable…
