Commentary:

Paul McAnulty’s defense at 3B can’t be any worse than Walker’s, can it? Their bats are probably pretty equal… .320/.399/.537 before tonight’s performance.

I have doubts about Will Venable being an impact big leaguer (does he have range for CF or power for corner?), but he’s easily one of my favorite Padre minor leaguers and he just keeps hitting.

The legend of David Freese continues to grow. I don’t have info on HBP or reaching base on errors (for on-base purposes), but in 154 combined AB between Eugene and Fort Wayne, Freese is batting .370 with a .682 slugging rate (17 2B, 1 3B, 10 HR).

Padres’ minor league pitchers were singularly unimpressive tonight. Leblanc was decent picking up the win as his offense went off for 14… Hayhurst and Ramos on the other hand…
