Commentary:

Peter Ciofrone is NOT a prospect. But that was a heck a game. Well done!

Cesar Ramos continue to prevent opposing hitters from scoring. How he does it without striking people out is a mystery.

In 132 professional AB, David Freese has 48 hits (.364 BA) of which 23 are of the extra-base variety (14 2B, 1 3B, & 8 HR - .667 slugging). I’ve previously mentioned that he’s old. Thus he doesn’t have long to get to the big leagues. But Dude is raking! And it’s fun to watch.

The excellent John Manuel of Baseball America sent me an e-mail to solve the Matt Antonelli riddle, “It sounds like his arm, which was sore this spring… is barking at him again. They don't think anything is too wrong, and they are hoping rest will take care of it.” By the looks of Matt’s performance tonight, it looks like that rest did help. But then he was doing this before the rest too… I can’t wait to see how he performs at higher levels.

The AZL Padres score 9 to win their game 9-5, yet despite Contreras 3 RBI performance, there really wasn’t an offensive hero in the game. You take “W’s” any way you can get ‘em…

The Eugene and AZL clubs are scoring some SERIOUS runs…

AZL Padres’ 7.61 R/G (leads league by more than .90 R/G)
Eugene Emeralds’ 5.51 R/G (leads league by .40 R/G)
