Commentary:
Overall Will Venable isn’t having a horrible month. However, Will’s .304 August batting average is accompanied by nary a walk to go with 12 strikeouts. Furthermore, while his batting average is good, 12 of his 14 hits came in his first six games of the month. In his last four, he’s garnered two hits (in 19 AB) and eight strikeouts. I'm not predicting "doom and gloom" nor do I think anything's wrong per say. But I don't like it either...
Jared Well’s line is quite the mixed bag… On one hand, you have to be pleased with a 6.0 inning performance only giving up two earned runs. On the other hand he walked six. Six! On the season he now has given up 66 BB to go with 90 SO in 114 innings. Those numbers don’t equal success.
According to MinorLeagueBaseball.com, Chase Headley fielded a bunt-single in the first inning and injured his arm on the play. I’ll be watching to find out how serious it is.
