Commentary

Not surprisingly, the TinCaps' CF speedster, Blake Tekotte, leads the team with 9 stolen bases. What is surprising is that the team's 6'4" RF is hot on Blake's heals with 7 SB - 6 in the last 4 games.

Zawadzki now has played 14 games in 2009. In those 14 games, he has 18 hits. Of those 18 hits, 6 are extra-base-hits. Of those 6 XBH, all 6 are home runs. Yes, the same hitter who had 26 2B, 5 3B, and 7 HR in 2008 now has 0, 0, and 6.

In and of itself, Herr’s performance does not merit inclusion on this list. However, in 12 innings so far this season he has allowed only 2 hits while striking out 19. The TinCaps are using Herr (him?) as late-innings reliever (though not the closer). The soft-tossing lefty will be an interesting pitcher to watch throughout the season.
